The Humours

Following the Rossignol Duo concert, the Laughing Seed Café is presenting a
4-course Medieval feast featuring vegan wild foods, period flavors, and live madrigals and harpistry.  Seating  is reserved only at 5:30
and 7:00.

Laughing Seed chef Jason Sellers is looking to go medieval, turning  back the pages in his vegetarian cookbook, and recreating old as the new contemporary.  This dinner will honor era-specific medieval foods,  vegan style.  As a professionally trained vegan chef, Jason is  happiest when given the opportunity to place vegetarian cuisine within
a cultural tradition.  His hope is that the experience will elevate  the tradition and widen the scope of vegetarianism.

Accompanying dinner, harpist Lelia Lattimore, principal harp with the Asheville Symphony, will be performing early harp works.  The high-school-aged Soundings Choral Group, directed by accomplished period specialist Timothy Wilds, will spice things up with selections from Praetorius, Morley, and Musica Britannica intermittently during the feast.

Downstairs at Jack of the Wood Pub, midwinter renaissance revelry will continue from 7—9 p.m..  Musicke Antigue will perform lively music of the period, and the pub kitchen will presents festive specials.  Members of the group are Jane Allen, Carol Beck, Doug Bennett, Helen Bishop, Rita Black, Dean Crawford, Fran Demoretcky, Rita Greiser, Sharen Hafner, Carol Markey, Marie Smith and Don Taws.  Period attire and dancing are welcome!

Our fabulous Thor’s Day Offerings will conclude at 9:15, with the drawing for our Raffle, “The Car or the Carletti?”  Pub admission is free, dinner tickets do not include drinks or gratuity
